TIFF, LOVE, LAUGHTER and ADVERSITY

I got to see a few movie premieres at the Toronto International Film Festival, which were amazing, not so amazing and super random. The ones that cut through were intense, tough and transcendent. Tour de force performances, amazing true stories and renewed faith in humanity were reoccurring themes. My favourite was Don Jon because it will appeal to a wide audience, entertain and enlighten. It takes the subject of sex, love and intimacy in today's world and uses a smart and non-confrontational way of asking people to re-examine how they perceive relationships. With a daily barrage of over sexualized imagery of mostly women, delusional expectations being hammered at us from movies and bad romance novels, no wonder we are all over the place in 2013!
